CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO)
Omega Schools Franchise Limited is transforming education by addressing one of the emerging world's biggest problems: inadequate access to high quality education for all families, poorer as well as richer. With its unique, daily all-inclusive Pay-As-You-Learn approach, affordable to low-income parents, the company is striving to become the preferred education network for aspirational families across Ghana. Opening its first schools in September 2009, it grew to nearly 40 schools in four years and is now set for further rapid expansion.
We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer who will be responsible for all core operations of the Company. He or she will be responsible for the critical performance of our entire chain of schools, including supply chain, staff management, maintaining a suitable environment for high-quality instructional delivery, marketing, parent and community relations and maintenance of facilities.
Reporting directly to the Company’s CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the overall direction of school chain operations, providing needed operational support to schools and monitoring their performance. He or she must ensure the elaboration of processes and systems required for the ongoing success of every Omega school. In particular, the COO will be responsible for driving the execution and management of:
- Customer Service (serving as the point of support for school management teams, teaching staff, parents and communities)
- Quality Assurance of work performed by the construction and maintenance field officers, responsible for the design and coordination of infrastructure development, equipment, systems and processes
- Supply Chain (including procurement, warehousing and logistics);
- School operations.
The COO will be expected to use his or her extensive experience and leadership to foster best practices and ensure the continuing development of a sustainable and scalable model. Most importantly the COO must be able to ensure an effective management of school operations, measured by:
- Customer satisfaction
- Pupil enrollment and attendance
- School staff attendance and retention
- Operational and overhead costs
- Individual school and school chain profitability
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate will have the ability to drive and demand operational excellence from large and diverse teams, while having a creative and agile problem-solving approach and a relentless pursuit of customer satisfaction. Previous experience in a start-up or early-stage environment with a culture of customer service is a major advantage, as is maintaining the highest operational efficiency and profitability. The person must hold a degree in management, engineering, economics, finance or other relevant field, with at least 5-years’ work experience in emerging markets.
